Review of His Counterfeit Campfire Bride (Camp Firefly Falls Book 2) by Gwen Hayes
Two advertising office enemies, Miguel Castillo and Seraphina Worth, are sent to a corporate retreat to learn how to work together and to bring back any prizes awarded to the best team … or else they’ll become unemployed. Unfortunately, they were wrongly signed up for “Rediscover Your Marital Intimacy” week instead of a corporate team building!
The plot provided for some interesting moments, especially when Miguel and Sera decided to pretend to be married (they are good at marketing after all), “struggling” (hint, hint) through tantric yoga and fighting off advances when another couple is interested in a couple fling/wife swap. The dialogue was witty and the reluctant but mutual attraction was cleverly used in their situation.
Those moments were fun, with a bit of introspection and character development thrown in, even though the story moved quickly. The reasons behind Miguel and Sera’s different approaches towards life was very effectively shared as the story progresses, without being too dramatic.
An enjoyable romance for a relaxing weekend read. Even though it’s part of a series, the story can be read as a stand alone.
