Review of Forever (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Book 5) by Chanda Hahn

This is the last book in the series where the dark prince threatened the human plane and where Mina needs to decide whether to become the prince’s prisoner or forever lose Jared and her friends. Mina has to deal with a few horrible situations that requires really difficult decisions.

Again a remarkable book by Chanda Hahn. All the loose ends were neatly wrapped up and it was a sort of “interesting” ending to this series – although I’m a bit sad to say goodbye to all these characters … Expect lots of action, romance and a few revelations you wouldn’t have expected.

A book and series I can recommend to avid fantasy readers.

In this unfortunate fairy tale, Mina needs to save her family’s future as the Grimms are fading from existence. She travels to the past with a pair of magic shoes and the assistance of her Fae Godmother. Mina needs to complete this new quest within a certain time period or she will be trapped there forever.

This was an interesting change to the other books and nature of Mina’s quests. You’ll get to know the other characters better and gain an understanding of how certain events shaped their future actions. For me this was the most captivating book in the series as it exceeded my expectations. It contains a well thought-out plot with a curious love triangle.

Entertaining and fascinating!

In the third book in the Unfortunately Fairy Tale series, Mina Grime will do anything to get something precious that was stolen from her back. She travels to the Fae plane where she faces many dangerous challenges and the strongest villain yet.

Similarly to the previous books, Fable also offers a great story line, a twisted version of old tales, lots of hilarious scenes, action and a shocking turn of events. This series are for those seeking adventure and who is young at heart and just loves fun and suspense. A gripping tale which will left you asking for more.

Review of Fairest (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Book 2) by Chanda Hahn

Please refer to the review on book 1 in the An Unfortunate Fairy Tale series, if you haven’t read it yet.

Mina Grime only just survived the Story’s first fairy tale in UnEnchanted (Book 1). There is still hundreds of fairy tale quests left before the curse can be lifted. In this book a new player introduces additional rules which ups the game while challenging Mina’s survival skills and choices.

I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. The mood swings (they are teenagers) can be sometimes frustrating but the characters are still charming. Chanda Hahn’s writing is like a gentle wave. Even though there is danger and suspense, the flow is uninterrupted and carefree which makes this an entertaining story.

The story continues in Fable (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Book 3).

If you want to read more about Jared, you can purchase Jared’s Quest: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Short Story by clicking here. This is a standalone short story that takes place between Book 1 and 2 and provides some of the events from Jared’s perspective and more insight into his character.

Mina Grime, a High School student, is descended from the Brothers Grimm. She inherited an old family curse with all their unfinished fairy tales. Her task is to outwit a powerful Story and to break the family curse, or else she’ll be the Story’s next victim.

What an interesting new take on old fairy tales. I enjoyed this book irrespective of the grammatical and spelling mistakes (the latter actually resulted in a few bad book reviews from other readers I noticed).

Chanda Hahn is a very talented and imaginative author and the second book, Fairest, was so much better and actually has a great plot and introduces new rules to Mina’s quests.

Worth mentioning is  a standalone short story that takes place between Book 1 and 2. It provides some of the events from Jared’s perspective and more insight on his character. You can purchase Jared’s Quest: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Short Story by clicking here.

Review of Shadow Lands (The Warrior Chronicles, 3) by K.F. Breene

To claim her title as the Chosen, Shanti needs to enter The Trials alone to test her fighting skill, battle awareness and ability to survive. On the other hand, Cayan needs to master his mental skill while keeping his men safe on a dangerous island. More Graygual and Inkna arrived on the island and some sinister force is rigging The Trials.

Another great and exciting book in the series. Full of interesting plots, detailed action scenes, suspense, pleasing interactions between characters, and humour. The story kept me engaged, anxious and surprised. I was unable to put it down until I read to the bitter end. Ms Breene doesn’t disappoint and she’s indeed a great story teller with an amazing imagination.

I can really recommend this book and the series.

Review of Hunted (The Warrior Chronicles, 2) by K.F. Breene

After freeing her brother, Rohnan, and a unknown stranger from a Graygual camp, Shanti  returns to Cayan. The unknown stranger seems very precious to the enemy. Subsequent to the rescue mission, Shanti catches the attention of the Hunter – a superior officer who always finds his targets. The question is whether Shanti could remain elusive while the danger increases and one of the best is hunting her.

Similarly to the first book, I couldn’t put it down. My heart was racing while I “joined” the never ending fighting and action scenes. The characters are exciting and come alive which left me rooting for them or cheering when they defeat their enemy. An excellent follow-up on Chosen and more unexpected events for our fiercely, determined female warrior. Another great book that captures her journey to the Shadow Lands and the trials awaiting the Chosen one.

I highly recommend this impressive series and Book 2. Warning, you may become addicted!!

Review of Chosen (The Warrior Chronicles, 1) by K.F. Breene

The story covers Shanti’s destiny to lead the Shadow Warriors to freedom and out of the Land of Mist. On her journey, and while fleeing the warlord Xandre, she was found in the wastelands by foreigners. As the war spreads she needs to assist her saviors with her exceptional fighting abilities (which include powerful mental powers) and reveal some secrets she tried to hide.

I was instantly attracted to the story and couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what happens next in this action packed adventure. I was intrigued with the plot and enjoyed the humour and sexual tension. The female lead has a great personality, is interesting, fun and really shines. The other characters were well-developed too, which was stimulating and added to the various interactions with Shanti. The action scenes are so detailed it becomes real. The book is well-written, which only left me hungry for more.

I highly recommend this series.
